I am an artist.

Photography is the medium I use to express my creativity. I am very passionate about the beauty of the world we inhabit, and I love the way I feel when all my senses are engaged in the moment at a special place. My pictures are my visual representation of what I saw and felt.

I travel to places that I want to see. I love the solitude of rural places, especially at dawn and dusk. The light at these times is soft, warm and, if the conditions are right, spectacular!

I pick my subjects carefully. I do not randomly shoot and hope I get lucky. I will drive and/or walk for hours looking for a composition that I think is interesting. I love the hunt and the anticipation of discovery. When I find something I want to shoot, I make a mental note, and come back to it when I think the light will be right. Rarely do I see a compostion that is lit the way I want when I first find it. I usually have to come back to the spot many times in the following days, weeks, sometimes years later to get it right.

I believe there are 4 key ingredients in a timeless and evocative image:

1. An interesting subject that must be placed in the frame with regard to time-tested rules of composition.

2. Depth and movement.

3. Color and lighting that convey the mood.

4. Allow the image to speak for itself and tell its story.

I became a photographer at the infancy of the digital revolution in the photographic industry. I believed at the time that digital was the future and I should embrace it as such.

I discovered early in my efforts that the digital method would allow me to "stitch" images. Stiching enables me to build images that can be printed large and thus convey the drama and spectacle of a grand landscape.

I am often asked if I have a favorite. I do -- however, every one of my images is a record of a moment in time at a special place that evokes feelings and memories I would not trade for anything.
